After deliberation among the MASC officers, NIRSA and communication with team leadership concerning the COVID-19 pandemic; we have decided it would be in the best interest of our teams and communities to cancel the Spring Season. For those of you who may be wondering why we are cancelling the season when our participants in our league are generally in the low-risk cohort, many of your friends, families, and colleagues may not be. This decision is in the best interest of all Midwest Alliance Soccer Conference student-athletes, recreational sports/athletics departments and university communities. Since last March, we have been communicating that health and safety is the number one priority.
Clubs that are allowed to have a spring season are welcome to play friendlies with other schools that are granted permssion. Clubs will need to verify with their club/rec. sports director, policies and guidelines in order to play these matches. The MASC will have no jurisdiction over these games in the event they are played.
The MASC officers are heartbroken that we are in this place. However, we take comfort and want to give assurance to our student-athletes, coaches, and families that we have your best interest at heart, and we will make every effort to provide competition in the fall.
In closing, we want to thank all who have been in constant communication and understand our current situation. Please Stay Safe!
The MASC Board of Directors
